Last Day

We finished up summer camp today. It was a very good feeling, but still very sad at the same time. It was hard saying goodbye to all the kids. We had to give and receive alot of hugs. It was a joy to see the kids taking home all their art projects. We saw at least a few of the kids explaining each of the art projects, which were the pieces of the armor of God, and what each meant to their parents.

We also did a performance for the parents and family members in which the kids could show everything that they did and learned. It was great to see how much the students did learn from this camp. When Steph asked a few to explain the art projects to the group they attempted to say everything that they had heard in the sermons.

A highlight of this camp for Bryan was the questions that were asked in Bible class. We got into all kinds of things, like can people be cursed? Like the story of Balaam. Or his favorite questions was, "Did God commit adultery when he made Mary pregnant with Jesus since she was engaged?" Another great moment was when he handed out Bibles to kids who did not have open in their home. The kids were so excited to receive their own Bible. A few brought theirs back each day and one young boy asked Bryan where the armor of God was found and using the NT rap found the passage and proceeded to highlight it. These kids were engaged and truly began to see how the Bible could affect lives.

When we reviewed the camp with both the teens and the adult staff there were compliments all around. The teens were very impressed with the Bible class which made Bryan almost cry. Also Steph was told repeatedly how wonderful the art was this year.

Every morning we have began the day with a devotional time with the teen staff. This morning was really neat because one of the teens, Daniel, led a wonderful devotion on the topic of salvation and did a wonderful job showing why this is needed for us and how a person is saved. It is great to see the teens working through the word of God.

One other fun part of this week was that Bryan went down to a local park with some of the teens and played basketball. They played pick up against other people that were hanging out and he proved that he could play with all of them. The New City team went 5-0 with Bryan!

Overall this was a very memorable experience and was a huge blessing. We will miss New City. This church is something that is very special and unique and is a testament to how God works in all places, lives and hearts. There have been so many other great moments there is just not time to share them all. We hope that this helps give an idea of what we have been up to and we will be home soon. Thanks for all your prayers and notes of support!
